I found this link to be interesting. It seems to agree with a thought process I have had in the past -- totalitarian regimes first start by removing the ability of their citizens to defend themselves.
The concept of dismantling firearms to basic components before they are functional is astonishing. Thus if you suffer a home invasion, you will need 2-5 minutes to re-assemble a weapon to defend yourself.
Socialist & Totalitarian regimes always remove weapons from their citizens before they enact hostile actions before their citizens.
